Saturday, February 1st, 2014 - Evening Weather Discussion

Well, there is definitely the potential for a MAJOR storm along the Eastern Seaboard of the United States next weekend.  But first, the Northern New Jersey and New York City area is in for some very significant snow over the next 10 days, with the potential for as much as 16 or more inches of snow between several different storms with some ensemble members showing around 3 FEET of snow over the next 10 days.  The first storm will occur on Monday with around 4 inches of snow possible across much of Northern New Jersey beginning very early in the morning and ending in the late afternoon.  There will be even more snow over central and southern New Jersey where 6-9 inches of snow is likely.  The next storm will begin on Tuesday night around 11 pm in Northern New Jersey and will continue over night and into Wednesday, ending around 4 pm on Wednesday afternoon.  There is still a chance that the snow could mix with sleet or freezing rain but that is beginning to look less likely.  If the snow does not mix with sleet or freezing rain, total accumulations should be between 7 and 9 inches in Northern New Jersey.  The 3rd storm, for next weekend, is likely to start some time on Saturday and go through the day on Sunday and possibly into the morning on Monday of next week.  This storm has the potential to be quite intense.  There are still many questions as to exactly how and where this storm will develop.  Those are the details that will determine what type of precipitation various locations along the East Coast receive.  However, at the moment there is the possibility of a significant snowstorm with blizzard potential anywhere from Georgia through Maine, depending upon exactly where this storm develops.  There are individual ensemble members that give a blizzard all the way down to Georgia and up the entire East Coast, while others miss everyone completely.  So, I urge everyone on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States to check back here for more information continuously.  Please tell all of your family, friends, relatives, neighbors, newspapers, radio stations, television stations, and unknown people you have never met before about this blog.  Thank you.
