The snow may mix with and change to sleet in sections of
Northern New Jersey this afternoon. It
will then turn back to heavy snow tonight, ending between 3 am and 5 am on
Friday morning. Total accumulations
should be 10-20 inches throughout Northern New Jersey, with the chance of some
localized amounts up to 25 inches.
The storm will intensify rapidly tonight, with winds gusting
over 40 mph in some locations tonight, and possibly as high as 50 mph. As the storm rapidly intensifies tonight any
sleet will change back to very heavy snow, along with the strong winds, causing
blizzard conditions, regardless of whether or not the National Weather Service
wants to officially call it a blizzard.
Another storm will develop over the Southeastern United
States late on Friday night, bringing them more snow on Friday night and
Saturday morning. This storm will also intensify
rapidly as it moves Northeast, bringing us more snow on Saturday morning into
early Saturday afternoon that could accumulate to 1-3 inches.
Another storm will approach on Tuesday morning, bringing the
chance for another 2-4 inches of snow on Tuesday morning.
It will then warm up toward the end of next week, with highs
in the 40’s on Thursday through Saturday, with a chance of showers on Friday
and Saturday. Sunday may then warm to
the low 60’s as warm air surges ahead of a strong cold front. After that front passes through on Sunday
evening, the rain may change back to snow and continue into Monday, but that is
a long way out and we will have to wait and see.
It may then remain cold after that storm passes, with the
chance for more snow showers the following week.
