Well, for those who don’t want more snow, I am truly VERY sorry.
We will have a chance of a snow shower today and it will
remain cold with lows dropping to the low to mid single digits on Friday
morning and highs only reaching the upper teens on Friday.
We will again have a slight chance of a snow shower on
Saturday.
Then on Sunday, well, here we go again. The arctic cold front will stall out just to
our south and a low pressure area will ride along this front, exiting the coast
near the Delmarva Peninsula on Monday night.
The track of this low pressure area will cause light snow to develop
here on Sunday afternoon and continue through the night. The snow will then become heavy at times on Monday
and will end on Monday evening. Total
accumulations should be 6-12 inches with localized amounts up to 15 inches
possible. The lower amounts will be in
areas that mix with freezing rain and sleet at the start of the storm. It is still to be determined where the mixing
line will set up. It is possible it
could set up in our area, or it could remain south of us, we will just have to
wait and see.
After this storm passes, a strong storm will start to
develop along the Gulf Coast on Thursday.
This storm has the potential to bring heavy snow to areas as far south
as North Carolina and for much of Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. I am
sorry to say that I am concerned about the possibility of this storm coming
further north into our area. I am not
yet certain that it will, but it is definitely a possibility. If this storm comes further north into our
area it would bring us heavy snow on Thursday night and Friday. Again, we will just have to wait and
see.
After this storm passes we will have a chance for more snow
the following Sunday, and again the following Tuesday night and Wednesday.
I still think I might see the sings of this pattern changing
around the middle of next month. Then
again maybe I am just seeing things.
