Ok, a lot people have asked me if I think we are really
going to be getting this storm on Sunday night into Monday and how much we will
get, as a lot of people have heard there is a possibility of a foot of snow
with this storm. I will answer those questions in a minute.
First though, it will get very cold tomorrow and Friday as
lows drop to the mid single digits and we will have a chance of snow showers
tomorrow as another weak disturbance approaches our area. These snow showers cold leave a dusting to a
half of an inch of accumulation again.
On Saturday another weak disturbance will once again
approach our area, bringing us a chance of more snow showers that could again
bring us a dusting to a half of an inch of snow.
Then on Sunday the arctic cold front will stall out just to
our south. A storm will develop along
this front and approach our area from the west on Sunday and Monday, exiting
the coast near the Delmarva Peninsula on Monday night. This track of the area of low pressure will cause
light snow to develop on Sunday afternoon that will continue through the
night. The snow will then become heavy
at times on Monday, ending on Monday evening.
I expect total accumulations of 6-12 inches or more. There still remains
a chance that the arctic cold front could stall out in a bit different location
than the models currently indicate, causing the storm to take a different path
which would change snowfall amounts. So,
be sure to check back for updates in case things change.
After the Sunday night into Monday storm passes we will have
a chance for another significant area of low pressure to approach our area next Thursday night into Friday. This would
be a snow threat as well, so we will have to keep a close eye on it.
We will then have a chance for another storm to bring us
some snow next Sunday, then the following Wednesday.
Will it ever end?
Well, yes it will. I am just not
sure when yet. As soon as I have a good
handle on it I will let you know.
Have a nice evening and thanks for reading.
Click here or on the map below to view the latest snowfall output map from the medium range American model that just came out. Please keep in mind that this does NOT include the snow that will fall on Monday afternoon and evening in Northern New Jersey, and another 3-6 inches will fall on Monday afternoon and evening. So, extend that salmon color area eastward to New Jersey from Pennsylvania. This is as far as this map goes out in time. Also, please keep in mid that these totals can easily change, so be sure to check back for updates.
