Winter may end with a Grand Finale next week!

First though, it will be warmer today with a high around 50.

It will be a bit cooler tomorrow with a high in the mid 40’s.

This weekend will be a bit unsettled with a chance of a shower on Saturday with a high in the low 50’s, and a rain or snow shower on Sunday with a high in the mid 40’s.

Monday will be the calm before the storm, but it will be colder with a high in the mid 30’s as the Polar Vortex makes another visit to Southeastern Canada.

The Polar Vortex will be feeding cold air back into the Northeastern United States early next week at the same time that one storm drops to into the Central Plains States from Canada and another storm moves along the Gulf Coast.  These two storms are likely to combine into a rather strong Nor'easter near Cape Hatteras, North Carolina on Tuesday morning.  This storm will then move northeast to a position about 150 miles off the coast of New Jersey on Tuesday night and then to about 100 miles off the coast of Cape Cod by Wednesday morning, becoming quite intense as it does so.

If the track outlined above verifies it would mean a chance of some snow on Tuesday afternoon and night, ending on Wednesday morning, with more snow as you head east toward New York City and Long Island, and less as you head west into Northwest New Jersey.  This track may change over the coming days and could come closer to us or further off shore.  A track closer to us would bring more snow and winds and a track further off shore would mean less snow, or very possibly even no snow.

Right now I give the odds of us receiving at least some snow from this storm being at around 50%, and within that 50% I give us a 25% chance of receiving significant amounts of snow.  There currently remains a 50% chance of no snow whatsoever, as the storm could miss us just to the south and east.

Be sure to check back for updates.

The good news is that this is likely the last chance for a significant snowstorm in our area for a while, so spring will really begin next Thursday.

Have a great day.
