Friday, April 11th, 2014 - Evening Weather Discussion

Well, what do you know?  The National Weather Service now has a chance of snow showers in the forecast for Wednesday.  I have already been saying that for like, what?  A week?

Anyway, before we go there, we will have some showers tonight, followed by a beautiful day tomorrow and a high in the upper 60's.

We will then have a very warm day on Sunday with just a slight chance of a shower and a high in the mid to upper 70's.

Monday will be another amazing day with a high in the mid to upper 70's.

Tuesday we will then have showers and thunderstorms, heavy at times as a strong cold front approaches our area and it will still be warm with a high in the low 60's.

Wednesday will then be quite a bit colder with a low in the low 30's and a high only in the low 40's.

Things may then get interesting on Wednesday night as a low pressure area may form along the cold front that just moved off shore.  With the fresh cold air in place from the cold front on Wednesday morning and a potential storm off the coast, if any precipitation gets thrown back into our area, it would likely be snow on Wednesday night with a low on Wednesday night in the low 30's and a high on Thursday only in the low 40's.

The European model and its ensembles look amazingly like a mid-winter situation with this storm, as 60% of the ensembles are showing at least some snow or sleet on Wednesday or Wednesday night into Thursday morning and 25% of them showing a significant amount of snow or sleet on Wednesday or Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

It will likely be cold enough for snow on Wednesday night if this storm does indeed form and get close enough to us.  It is just a matter of whether this storm really does develop and the track that it takes if it does.

We shall see.
