Monday, May 26th, 2014 - Morning Weather Discussion

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!  A special thanks to all of you who served and protected this country.  Let us all remember what this holiday is about. 

Will we ever get those summer-like temperatures for more than a day or two?  Will a tropical system develop?

First though, we will have another very nice day today after some high clouds leave the area, with a high in the low to mid 80’s.

Tomorrow a cold front will approach, bringing with it some showers and thunderstorms, however it will remain warm, with highs in the low to mid 80’s as warm air continues to surge north into our area ahead of the front. 

Behind the front a weak storm will form off the coast, giving us a cool and damp easterly wind flow off the ocean, much as we had last week.  This will keep things damp and cool for Wednesday through Friday, but with gradually improving conditions each day, again much as we had last week.  The highs on Wednesday and Thursday will only be in the low to mid 60’s, rising to the mid to upper 60’s on Friday. 

Saturday and Sunday should then be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm and highs around 70.

Next Monday through Wednesday we may again get that cool and damp easterly wind flow off the ocean, keeping it cool with highs only around 60 on Monday, again gradually warming to around 70 on Tuesday and the low to mid 70’s on Wednesday.

Next Thursday through Saturday should then be warmer, but with a continued chance of a shower or thunderstorm and highs in the low to mid 80’s.

Then next Sunday we will have to watch for the possibility of a tropical system developing in the Caribbean or Eastern Gulf of Mexico and moving northward up the coast.  If this were to occur it would bring us showers and thunderstorms and highs in the upper 70’s.
