Tuesday, September 23, 2014 - Evening Weather Discussion

The rain situation is going to be MUCH worse than the models had been showing for Thursday.  This turn of events is something that I have not seen in quite some time.  We went from looking at no rain on Thursday just a couple of days ago, to now looking like we will have some flooding on Thursday and possibly even significant flooding in some locations, as a weak Nor'easter is going to form along the coast and move slowly Northeast on Thursday.

The combination of the weak and slow moving Nor'easter  and a strong high pressure area off the coast to our our Northeast will cause very moist air to funnel into our area off the ocean, producing the possibility of very heavy rains on Thursday, especially early Thursday.

The rain is now likely to start tomorrow night and become heavy at times late at night and into Thursday, with some flooding likely as some areas could get more than 2 inches of rain, and with widespread areas of more than 1 inch.

The rain will likely be heaviest late on Wednesday night and early on Thursday.

With the rain it will also be quite cool on Thursday with highs only in the upper 50's.

It now even looks as if the rain will linger into early Friday morning before ending.

After this storm passes it looks as if it should be quite nice through next week.
