Saturday, October 18, 2014 - Morning Weather Discussion

Well, yesterday was an absolutely beautiful day with a high in the upper 60’s in most locations.  Unfortunately, that is likely the last day near 70 for quite a while to come.

It turns out that I was right about the Nor’easter next week.  A Nor’easter will indeed form for the middle of next week along the Middle Atlantic Coast and it will stick around and mess up pretty much our entire week.  We need the rain though.  Fortunately, the storm won’t have any cold air to work with.

As far as today goes, it will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower as a cold front will drop down from Canada and bring us some cold air for tomorrow.  The high today will be in the low 60’s and only around 50 tomorrow.

Monday morning lows will drop to the mid to upper 30’s.  This will cause frost to develop in some of the colder valley locations of Northern New Jersey.  The high on Monday will be in the mid 50’s with a chance of a shower at night.

Tuesday a Nor’easter will start to slowly develop near the Middle Atlantic Coast.  This storm will bring us a chance of showers from Tuesday through Sunday.  The storm will intensify slowly from Tuesday through Thursday, causing a greater chance for widespread rain on Thursday, before the storm starts to slowly move away and weaken on Friday through Sunday.  Highs will range from the mid 50’s to the low 60’s Tuesday through Saturday, dropping to the upper 40’s next Sunday as cold air filters in on the back side of the storm.

Next Monday and Tuesday should then be nice but cool with lows around freezing and highs only in the mid 40’s next Monday, rising to the mid to upper 50’s next Tuesday.

Next Wednesday there will be a chance of a shower with a high in the low 60’s.

Next Thursday and Friday should be mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 50’s.
