Happy Friday!!!
I increased snowfall amounts at the last minute yesterday to
1-2 inches in the highest elevations, as the temperatures dropped a bit quicker
than expected. Snowfall amounts of 2.2
inches at West Milford, Passaic County, 2.5 inches at Hopatcong, Sussex County,
and 3.3 inches at Highland Lakes were recorded.
So, this little storm did leave many people with a bit of a surprise last
night.
Moving forward, it will be cold today and tomorrow followed
by an approaching storm for Sunday night and Monday. At the moment it continues to appear that it
will start as a bit of snow on Sunday night, changing to rain on Monday
morning, then continuing as rain throughout the day, possibly changing back to
snow before ending late on Monday night or early on Tuesday morning. There could be a bit of accumulation at the
beginning on Monday morning and again on Monday night into Tuesday morning.
It will then get quite cold with highs only in the low 30’s
in many locations by Wednesday morning and lows possibly dropping into the
upper teens in the colder locations.
Another storm may approach for next Thursday but at the
moment this does not look like a big deal, with just a chance for some snow
showers. We will however need to keep a
close eye on this potential as the data had something quite a bit bigger with
this storm earlier in the week.
Next Saturday there will be a chance of rain or snow showers
again but this one does not look like a big deal either. We will need to watch it closely like the one
for Thursday, just in case.
The following week we then warm up quite a bit just before
the holiday with highs reaching the low to mid 50’s next Tuesday and Wednesday,
but the price for the warmth will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms that
could be quite severe, just in time for the busiest travel day of the
year.
It will then cool down for Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday
with a chance of a shower on Thanksgiving Day and a chance of rain or snow for
Black Friday.
Check back in for the latest this evening, just in case
Mother Nature decides to throw us another surprise on Sunday night and Monday.
Have a Great Day!!!
