First though, it will be nice tomorrow morning, with increasing cloudiness in the afternoon and a slight chance of a little light rain or light freezing rain at night and into Sunday morning, so be careful if driving tomorrow night or early on Sunday morning. The high tomorrow will be in the upper 30's to low 40's.
Sunday we will have a slight chance of light rain or light freezing rain early in the morning then it will be variably cloudy with increasing cloudiness late in the day and highs in the upper 40's.
Monday night rain will develop around 11 pm and become heavy at times until around 7-8 am on Monday.
Monday we will have a chance of showers and it will be quite warm with highs in the mid 60's as warm air surges northward into our area ahead of an approaching cold front.
Tuesday morning we will have a chance of showers, followed by clearing in the afternoon as the cold front passes through. The high on Tuesday should be in the low to mid 50's.
Wednesday a coastal storm may start to develop near the South Carolina Coast along the cold front that passed through on Tuesday afternoon. This storm may then strengthen while moving northward and approaching our area. If this were to occur on its own, the storm might just go harmlessly out to sea, and that is still a possibility. However, there will be an approaching upper level low pressure area from the west that will be dropping down from Canada. This low pressure area may be able to pull the first storm back close enough to the coast to produce an accumulating snowfall here on Wednesday, maybe. In addition, these two systems have the potential to merge into one stronger storm that could bring us snow from Wednesday morning through Friday morning.
So, it is a very complex situation with lots of moving pieces. In cases like this really anything is possible. We could wake up tomorrow morning and find out we will have sunny skies Wednesday through Friday of next week or we would wake up and be looking at a long duration snow event that would have the potential to bring us very significant snowfall accumulations during the busiest travel time of the year.
Right now the chances of an accumulating snowfall from Wednesday through Friday are at roughly 50% while the chances of a significant snowfall are at 25%.
People in the Deep South also need to keep a close eye on this potential as the storm could bring snow to areas as far south as Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina for Thanksgiving Day.
After this potential storm or storms pass, we should have a chance of some snow showers next weekend followed by another storm approaching for next Monday.
Luckily it may warm up after that for a bit.
Have a wonderful evening and please join me in the morning for the latest.
