HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
So, will there be a coastal storm for the busiest travel day
of the year into Thanksgiving morning with the potential for significant
snow?
First, it will be nice today, but cooler again with highs
only in the low to mid 30’s.
Tomorrow will be a bit warmer with increasing cloudiness in
the afternoon and highs in the upper 30’s.
Late Saturday night into early Sunday morning there will be
a chance of a bit of light rain or light freezing rain, so we will need to keep
a close eye on that potential.
The rest of the day on Sunday should be variably cloudy with
temperatures warming to the upper 40’s at night.
Sunday night rain will start around 10 pm and it could be
heavy at times until Monday morning. The
rest of the day on Monday there will be a chance of showers but it will be VERY
WARM with highs in the low to mid 60’s.
Tuesday the showers should come to an end early in the
morning, followed by a variably cloudy day and it will still be warm, prior to
the cold air moving in, with highs in the low to mid 50’s.
Wednesday there is a potential for a problem as the chances
for a coastal storm to develop have increased once again overnight.
If this coastal storm does develop and come close enough to
our area snow could start between around 6 am and 9 am on Wednesday and continue
through the day and into Thanksgiving morning.
Depending on where and how this storm develops, if it does at all, we
could very well have significant accumulations of snow. The only good news is that temperatures may
remain just above freezing in most areas, so there is a chance that the roads
might just remain wet, rather than white.
BUT that depends on how things develop.
Please keep in mind that anything can happen this far out in the
future. This storm might not develop at
all, or it might develop further out to sea with lesser effects on our area, or
no effect at all. On the other hand, it
could develop stronger and closer to the coast than expected, bringing us
colder temperatures and much worse problems with significant snowfall. I DO NOT YET KNOW WHICH IT WILL BE!!! Right now I put the chances at roughly
50/50. This really can go either way at
the moment. I could see this storm
developing further out to sea and not affecting us at all, but I can also
picture a scenario where this storm develops rapidly and gives us a significant
snowfall on Wednesday into Thanksgiving morning. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES!!!
After this potential storm passes on Thanksgiving morning we
would have a continued chance of snow showers for the rest of the day on Thanksgiving,
through Black Friday, and into Saturday morning before it finally clears
out.
Next Sunday should then be variably cloudy before another
chance of rain or snow next Monday through Wednesday.
Please be sure to check back for updates.
Have a great day!
