Happy November 1st!
A piece of the Polar Vortex is moving through the Carolinas
now, bringing moderate to occasionally heavy snow to parts of the Southern Appalachian
Mountains in Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina, and amazingly to much of
Western South Carolina and Northern Georgia currently. Tomorrow Maine will likely get some heavy
snow.
This piece of the Polar Vortex is inducing cyclogenesis
along the Middle Atlantic Coast as the cold air from Polar Vortex is meeting up
with the very warm waters along the Southeast Coast of the United States. As the Nor’easter is developing it is causing
heavy rain to break out through much of New Jersey this morning, especially
Southern New Jersey.
The Nor’easter will continue to develop throughout the day
but the rains should actually lighten up later today as the storm will develop
a bit too far off shore to have a major impact on our area. However, light rain will continue into
tonight and possibly into early tomorrow morning before dawn. If the precipitation continues into early
tomorrow morning, enough cold air could move into the area to allow the rain to
mix with or change to wet snow just prior to ending, although it won’t
accumulate and if you are not up when and if it happens, you will never
know.
Highs today will only be in the low to mid 40’s.
Moving forward, it will clear out tomorrow but remain cold
with highs only in the mid 40’s.
Monday and Tuesday will be mostly sunny with gradually
warming temperatures as warm air moves into our area ahead of an approaching
cold front. The highs will be around 50
on Monday and 60 on Tuesday.
Next Wednesday we will have a chance of a shower in the
morning as the cold front approaches with highs in the mid to upper 50’s.
Thursday we will have a chance of showers from the late
morning into the evening, possibly mixing with or changing to snow showers at
night. The high on Thursday will be in
the low 50’s.
Friday we will have a chance of snow showers as some
moisture wraps back into the cold air in our area behind a developing Nor’easter
over New England. The high on Friday
will be in the low to mid 40’s.
Next Saturday into Sunday morning should be mostly sunny but
quite cold with lows in the mid to upper 20’s and highs in the low 40’s next
Saturday and the mid to upper 40’s next Sunday.
Next Sunday night we will have a chance of showers as a
storm system approaches.
Next Monday we will have a chance of rain with highs in the
mid 50’s.
Next Tuesday will then be mostly sunny but cold with lows in
the mid to upper 20’s and highs in the mid 40’s.
Next Wednesday and Thursday look unsettled with a chance of
showers on Wednesday and snow showers next Thursday. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40’s next
Wednesday and the low to mid 40’s next Thursday.
Next Friday will be mostly sunny and quite cool with lows in
the mid to upper 20’s and highs in the low 40’s.
If you want to have a chance of seeing a bit of snow either
travel to Georgia and South Carolina right now by plane or stay up until the
early morning hours tomorrow and cross your fingers. Or
take a trip to Maine. They will likely
get pummeled with heavy snow tomorrow.
