Snowfall Totals

Some people got what was forecast while others got less.  That is the way it goes.  However, in order to properly measure this storm you needed to put down a board and measure every 6 hours, then clear the board and measure again.

The snow went on for almost 24 hours here, ending only now and it compacted quite a bit over that time with the heavy wet nature of the snow.  I measured only 5 inches at my location this morning, however I measured the same 5 inches yesterday early afternoon and I know we had quite a bit more after that, but I did not go out and clear the board.

Anyway, when you go out to shovel it you will see what I mean, that snow is quite heavy.  What I am saying is that these measurements are really not representative of the amount of snow that was actually received in many of these locations as it did compact quite a bit.

Anyway, the big winners were in areas of Northern Sussex County (Montague with 12.5 inches), Northern Passaic County (West Milford with 10 inches), and Northern Morris County (Lake Hopatcong with 8.1 inches).
