Thursday, November 20, 2014 - Evening Weather Discussion

I have been talking about the possibility of a coastal storm developing for next Wednesday into Thursday for quite some time.  I was about to write that possibility off this morning as the data had all but removed the threat this morning.  I said I was not yet ready to trust the data and I said why I felt like this.  Now the data moved in the other direction quite a bit today.  Will we have a coastal storm for the busiest travel day of the year?

First though, it will be nice tomorrow and most of the day on Saturday although clouds will increase in the afternoon on Saturday.  The high tomorrow will be in the low to mid 30's and the upper 30's on Saturday.

Late Saturday night or early Sunday morning there will be a slight chance of some light rain or light freezing rain.  We will need to keep a close eye on that potential.

The rest of Sunday should be nice during the day with temperatures rising to the upper 40's.

Sunday night rain will develop around 10-11 pm and continue until Monday morning, possibly heavy at times with a chance of showers the rest of the day.  It will be quite warm on Monday with highs in the low 60's.

Tuesday should then be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower and highs in the low to mid 50's.

Then the BIG question is whether that coastal storm develops that I have been talking about?  The odds increased quite a bit today from around 10% this morning when I almost wrote it off, to around 40% now.  We should have a much better idea where we stand with this potential tomorrow morning.

If there is a storm, it now appears that it could start as early as Wednesday morning and go into Wednesday night or Thursday morning.  That is, if there is one at all.

Beyond this potential threat, unfortunately, there is also a threat of a long duration storm that could affect our area with either rain or snow both Black Friday and Saturday.

Then there is a chance of yet another storm for some time around next Tuesday that would likely bring us more rain or snow.

Be sure to check back early tomorrow morning by 6:30 am or earlier, with a quick update, if the need arises.

Have a wonderful evening!
