A low pressure area is in the process of developing in
the Gulf of Mexico right now. This low pressure area will move across the
Florida Peninsula tonight, then will turn due north and head up the Coast to a
point near Cape Hatteras, North Carolina by late tomorrow morning, then to
about 100 miles off the New Jersey Coast tomorrow evening, then to the Gulf of
Maine by early tomorrow morning.
Everything remains in line with my thinking at this
point. I still feel that all of Northern New Jersey will see a general
6-12 inches of snow with some locations possibly receiving more than a
foot.
The snow should start around 5-6 am although it could
start as a bit of light rain or very wet snow that will change to snow within a
couple of hours or so. It will then start to accumulate by around 8-10 am
and roads will likely become snow covered and slippery shortly thereafter and
very difficult by around 10 am to noon in most places. The snow will then
be heavy at times through evening before tapering to snow showers and flurries
by around 11 pm. The high tomorrow will occur in the early morning as the
precipitation starts when temperatures will likely be in the upper 30’s to
lower 40’s but will quickly drop to 32-34 degrees and hold steady all day.
We could have scattered snow showers and flurries much
of the day on Thanksgiving as an upper level disturbance may pass through and
combine with some lake effect snow that may very well make it into our area off
of Lake Ontario. The high on Thanksgiving Day will be in the mid
30’s.
Black Friday will then be variably cloudy but cold
with lows from the mid teens to the low 20’s and highs in the mid 30’s.
Saturday should be variably cloudy with lows in the
mid to upper teens and highs in the mid 30’s.
Sunday should be variably cloudy but warmer with highs
in the mid 40’s.
Monday there will be a chance of showers with highs in
the mid 40’s.
Tuesday should be mostly sunny with highs in the upper
30’s to low 40’s.
Wednesday should be mostly sunny with highs in the low
50’s.
Thursday should be mostly sunny with highs in the mid
50’s.
Friday there will be a chance of rain with highs in
the upper 40’s to low 50’s.
Next Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny with
highs in the mid 40’s.
Next Monday and Tuesday there will be a chance of snow
with highs in the low to mid 30’s.
Have a wonderful evening and expect the possibility of
some further updates or snow maps posted a bit later.
