Wednesday, November 5, 2014 - Evening Weather Discussion

A mid-winter like weather pattern is on the way as the Polar Vortex will return to Southeastern Canada by the end of next week, just as it did last winter.  This will supply the entire United States east of the immediate Pacific Coast with mid-winter like temperatures by the middle of next week and into the following week.  A piece of energy may then dive down from the Northern Jet Stream in Canada and merge with a storm moving along the Gulf Coast in the Southern Jet Stream.  These two pieces of energy may then form a strong Nor’easter along the Middle Atlantic Coast next weekend and of course there will be a tremendous amount of cold air for this storm to work with, if it does indeed develop as I think it will.

First though, it will be very ugly tomorrow with rain all day and a high only around 50.

Friday there will be a chance of a shower at any time and they could mix with or change to snow showers before finally ending on Friday evening.  The high on Friday will only be in the mid to upper 40’s.

Saturday will be nice but cold with lows in the upper 20’s to low 30’s and highs in the mid 40’s.

Sunday there will be a chance of showers with a high again in the mid 40’s.

Monday and Tuesday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 40’s on Monday, rising to the upper 50’s on Tuesday as warm air surges north into our area ahead of an approaching strong cold front.

Next Wednesday through Friday should be mostly sunny with lows in the mid to upper 20’s and highs in the low 40’s.

Next Saturday there will be increasing cloudiness with lows in the mid to upper 20’s and highs in the low 40’s.

Next Sunday there will be a chance of rain or snow as there is a real possibility that a Nor’easter may form along the East Coast.  There is a chance this storm could start as early as Friday night also.  If this storm develops, as I think it will, the exact track that it takes will determine the amount and type of precipitation we receive.  There will be a lot of cold air available to the north, so any track to our south would almost definitely mean snow for us, unless of course the storm gives the snow to South Carolina and misses us again, lol.

After this possible storm passes next weekend, there are now indications the cold may stick around well into the following week.  Hello winter…

Have a nice evening.
