One of my students asked me yesterday why I do this with the
weather forecasting, putting myself out there as I do to be wrong on occasion
(as everyone does with weather forecasting).
I thought it was an excellent question.
My response was (as many of you who follow this blog already know), that
often when I am the ONLY one out there saying something will happen, it
actually does, and then everyone else has to follow my lead. This is why CNBC tracked me down that one day
last year.
I have done that many times, I would be the only one out there saying that someone might get 3 feet of snow, and then they do. This is also why I have been in the newspaper so many times, as I was last winter down in the Southeastern United States and here locally, because I am not afraid to go out on a limb, with no support from anyone else.
That is why I do this, because so often I am the ONLY one who is right. Yeah, sometimes I won’t get it right, no one got a foot of snow in Northwestern, NJ this time, but I really didn't see anyone else out there who got this one right either in Northwestern, NJ, as we ended up getting almost entirely freezing rain and a bit of snow at the end with this storm.
Most of the forecasters were predicting rain or mainly rain with this storm and the fact is that it was mostly freezing rain and a bit of snow in Northwestern, NJ. So I was not right, but neither was anyone else. The one thing you know with me is that I will NOT follow anyone else’s lead, EVER. Often they end up following my lead. Now, let’s move forward…

Christmas Eve and Day forecast is being posted with this
discussion and the two-week outlook and yeah there could be a storm for
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day…
We will have more snow showers today with a dusting to an
inch of accumulation possible, then things will start to clear out tonight,
with only a chance of a snow shower tomorrow.
The highs will be in the low to mid 30’s and it will be cold tomorrow morning
with lows in the mid to upper teens.
Saturday through Monday should be mostly sunny with
gradually warming temperatures. It will
still be cold on Saturday morning with lows in the upper teens to low 20’s. Highs will warm from the mid 30’s on Saturday
to the upper 30’s on Sunday and the low 40’s on Monday.
Tuesday we will have increasing cloudiness as a weak storm
system approaches our area. We will then
have a chance of light rain or light snow developing at night and a high in the
low to mid 40’s.
Wednesday we will have a chance of light snow as the weak
storm moves through our area. The high
next Wednesday should be in the mid to upper 30’s.
Next Thursday and Friday should then be nice but cold with
highs in the low to mid 30’s.
Next Saturday through Monday morning a low pressure system
is likely to ride along the Gulf Coast and then head northward up the East
Coast. This will bring us a chance of
rain or snow for next Saturday through Monday morning with highs in the mid to upper
30’s
Next Tuesday should then start out mostly sunny but clouds
will increase in the afternoon and at night with highs in the upper 30’s.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day another storm will move
along the Gulf Coast and then turn northward up the East Coast, bringing yet
another chance for rain or snow and highs in the mid to upper 30’s.
Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!
Drive safely; the roads may be icy this morning.
