Thursday, December 4, 2014 - Morning Weather Discussion

Chance of a major Nor’easter affecting the Northeastern United States next Monday through Wednesday…

First though, we will finally get a nice day today!!!

It will be mostly sunny today with highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s.

Tomorrow clouds will increase in the morning followed by light rain or light snow developing in the afternoon or evening and quickly changing to light rain and continuing overnight.  The highs tomorrow will be in the upper 30’s to low 40’s.

Saturday we will have showers in the morning followed by rain, possibly heavy at times in the afternoon and at night.  The highs on Saturday will be in the low to mid 40’s.

Sunday the rain should come to an end in the morning, followed by clearing in the afternoon and highs in the upper 30’s.

Cold air will move in behind the storm on Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.

Monday a Nor’easter will start to develop off the Middle Atlantic Coast.  This storm may become a very significant storm for someone in the Northeastern United States for Monday through Wednesday.  Luckily, with the cold air moving into place what had looked like a potential ice storm for someone now looks like it should be a snowstorm.  The main question is who gets how much?  This will depend upon where exactly this storm develops and tracks.  A track close to the coast would bring a potentially very significant snowfall to people from Virginia through Maine, while a track further off the coast would bring lesser snowfall amounts and track far enough out to sea would keep us sunny.  Only time will tell what will happen.

After this storm departs we should finally get some well-deserved nice weather for next Thursday through Monday with highs rising from the low 40’s next Thursday to the upper 40’s next Monday.

The next chance of rain or snow will be next Tuesday and Wednesday.
