Tuesday, December 2, 2014 - Morning Weather Discussion

Crazy weather pattern ahead the next two weeks but luckily there won’t be any really cold air to deal with.  I am not however saying there won’t be any wintry-type weather…

Today will be cloudy and light snow will develop between around 1-2 pm, mixing with and then changing to sleet and possibly freezing rain in some locations of Northwestern New Jersey between 3 pm and 5 pm, then changing to light rain by around 6-8 pm, total POSSIBLE accumulations of a dusting to an inch in Northeastern New Jersey and a dusting to an inch or two in Northwestern New Jersey.  The high temperature will occur tonight as temperatures will rise through the night.  The high tonight will be in the mid to upper 30’s.  I am currently feeling as if it is more likely we will see toward the lower end of these totals in most locations, but I felt the possibility was there for a bit more, so I put these ranges of POSSIBLE accumulations in the forecast just in case.

Tomorrow we will then have a chance of showers with highs in the mid to upper 40’s.

Thursday should be mostly sunny with highs around 40.

Friday clouds will increase once again with a chance of light snow developing in the afternoon or at night, then changing to rain late at night.  The highs on Friday will be around 40.

Then the data is all over the place for Saturday and beyond.  Right now I will just go with a chance of showers for Saturday through Monday with highs in the low 40’s and a chance of rain or snow for next Tuesday through Thursday with highs in the upper 30’s.

There is a chance of two separate coastal storms forming next week.  One potentially affecting our area for Saturday through Monday with rain showers most likely, but it is close to being snow.  Then another coastal storm could form sometime between Tuesday and Thursday with this one having a greater chance of being snow than rain.  I am however not certain that either one of these storms will form, or if they do, I am not certain they will be close enough to our area to bring us any precipitation.  We will just have to wait and see.

There will then be a chance of another storm affecting our area next Sunday and Monday with more rain or snow.
