Wednesday, December 17, 2014 - Evening Weather Discussion

Surprise, surprise, another snowstorm bites the dust...

Yeah, one more down.  What had looked like one heck of winter has turned into, where is winter?

We will have two nice but cooler days tomorrow and Friday, and then variably cloudy skies with just a chance of some flurries on Saturday night and Sunday.

Yeah, the storm that was supposed to be off the New Jersey Coast on Sunday afternoon, now won't get there until Monday night, and by then the warm air will be in place and it will be a rain storm instead of a snow storm had it arrived a day earlier.

So we will have rain developing on Monday that will become heavy at times Monday evening and night, ending on Tuesday morning.  We will then get a brief break on Tuesday afternoon.

Then on Wednesday an intense storm will start to develop over the Tennessee River Valley.  This storm will then move northward into the Great Lakes and could become extremely intense.  This would bring us heavy rain for Christmas Eve day, ending by the evening.  It will also be quite windy and these strong winds will be blowing from the south, allowing temperatures on Wednesday to warm to the mid 50's.

We would then have just a slight chance of a snow shower on Christmas Day.

A cold front will then approach for the Saturday after Christmas, bringing another chance for showers with colder air behind it.

Another storm will approach for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

The winter WAS looking really bad.  Not so sure now...

For those of you heading south to Florida for the holiday, expect the possibility of heavy travel delays on Christmas Eve Day with the heavy rains and strong winds and remember that my dad owns a real estate company in Florida. Click here to view his company website.
