Friday, January 30, 2015 - Morning Weather Discussion

Happy Friday!

Super Bowl and post-Super Bowl snowstorm possible…

First though, the light snow should continue through early afternoon with one to possibly two inches of accumulation in some locations.  It will also become very windy later today with winds gusting to 30-40 mph at times.

Tomorrow will then be very cold with lows dropping to the low to mid single digits and highs only around 20.

Super Bowl Sunday clouds will increase as a strong storm system approaches from the southwest.  The storm will intensify as it approaches our area, causing snow to develop between 4 pm and 7 pm and becoming heavy at times late on Sunday night and through the day on Monday.  The snow should come to an end between 7 pm and 10 pm on Monday evening.  At the moment total accumulations appear to be in the 4-8 inch range; however any change in the track of the storm will cause this amount to either go higher or lower, so check back for updates.

After the storm passes on Monday night it will get VERY COLD for Tuesday with lows dropping to zero to 10 BELOW ZERO  on Tuesday morning with highs only in the mid to upper teens.

Wednesday should be nice but clouds will then increase as two storms approach our area, one dropping down from Canada and one approaching from the Gulf Coast.  There is a chance that these two storms will merge and create a Nor’easter for Thursday and Friday.  If they do merge this would bring us a chance for snow Thursday and Friday.  This is still very uncertain though at this time, so it just remains a chance for now.

After that storm passes the next chance of snow will be next Monday and Tuesday as again a storm system is likely drop down from Canada as a storm approaches from the Gulf Coast.  If these two systems merge they would bring us a chance for snow next Monday and Tuesday.

Have a great day!
