The freezing rain was quite a surprise yesterday morning as
the temperatures remained below freezing longer than expected. Yes, it did break 40 degrees in most
locations yesterday afternoon, but the morning freezing rain was treacherous. Unfortunately, I was not feeling well
yesterday morning and slept in, only to wake up to the rain having started and
the temperatures below freezing nearly everywhere. There
is nothing worse than freezing rain and I just wish that I could have caught
that earlier, but apparently the National Weather Service didn't either,
issuing a freezing rain advisory only a few minutes before I issued my own
advisory.
Moving forward, there could be a few icy spots on the roads
again this morning as temperatures are near freezing. The rest of the day will be variably cloudy
with a chance of a flurry and highs will be in the low to mid 30’s.
Tomorrow should be mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid
30’s.
As for Wednesday, I have been talking about this potential
Alberta Clipper for quite some time and the models have once again brought this
storm a bit further to the north this morning, so we will need to keep a close
eye on this possibility. The light snow
should start between 2 pm and 4 pm on Wednesday and end between 7am and 9 am on
Thursday morning. Depending on the track
of this storm we could have anywhere from a dusting to 3 inches, with 1-3
inches looking likely at the moment. The
highs on Wednesday should be in the low to mid 30’s.
Thursday afternoon will then clear out with highs in the low
to mid 30’s.
Friday should be mostly sunny with highs in the low 30’s.
Saturday will be variably cloudy with a chance of snow
showers as a weak storm system approaches from the west. The highs on Saturday should be in the mid 30’s.
Sunday should then be nice and warmer with highs around 40.
Next week we will have a chance of a snow every other day as
various storm systems may approach us from the west. Highs will range from the mid 20’s to the mid
30’s next week.
