Saturday, January 3, 2015 - Morning Weather Discussion

Snow will develop this morning between 11 am and noon, then will change to sleet early this afternoon, then to rain by evening or shortly thereafter.  The snow and ice could accumulate to a dusting to an inch in Northern New Jersey.

Tomorrow we will have rain with temperatures reaching around 60 in most locations of Northern New Jersey as warm air surges northward into our area with the storm.

Monday will then be variably cloudy with highs in the low to mid 30’s.

Tuesday an Alberta Clipper will approach our area, causing light snow to develop around 8-9 am and ending around 8-9 pm with 1-3 inches of accumulation possible.  The highs on Tuesday will be in the upper 20’s to low 30’s at night.

As far as the Tuesday storm goes, this is an Alberta Clipper so the track means everything and it is often difficult to get the exact track until about a day before the storm, which is Monday.  As of right now, depending on the exact track of this storm we would end up with as little as a dusting to as much as 3-4 inches.  As of the moment, the most likely scenario would be that most locations would end up in the middle of this with around 1-3 inches but we will have to wait and see.

Wednesday we will have variably cloudy skies with a chance of snow showers from the late morning into the evening with a dusting to an inch of accumulation possible.  The highs should be in the mid 20’s.

Thursday will then be VERY COLD with LOWS IN THE LOW TO MID SINGLE DIGITS and the HIGHS ONLY IN THE MID TO UPPER TEENS!!!

Friday there will be a chance of snow showers early in the morning with a dusting to an inch of accumulation possible.  The high will be in the mid to upper 20’s.

Next Saturday should be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 20’s to low 30’s.

Next Sunday there will be increasing cloudiness with a chance of light snow or snow showers from the late morning through the night with highs in the mid 30’s.

Next Monday we will have a chance of rain or snow with highs in the mid to upper 30’s.

Next Tuesday should be nice, followed by a chance of snow showers on Wednesday.  The highs should be in the upper 30’s.

Next Thursday and Friday a coastal storm may develop, bringing us a chance of rain or snow and highs in the mid 30’s.

Below is a photo I just took of the snow that still remains by my home from the storm the day before Thanksgiving.  This is also the last time we saw any significant snow.  Amazing, it is now January.  Who could imagine?  It is just now starting to snow as I am typing this.
