Potentially interesting coastal storm on Sunday and Sunday
night…
It will be nice but cold through Saturday with just a slight
chance of a snow flurry tomorrow. The
highs will be in the low 30’s today and tomorrow and the upper 20’s on
Saturday. The low should drop to the
upper single digits to the low teens on Saturday morning.
Sunday a storm may form along the Middle Atlantic
Coast. This is one of those storms where
just about anything can happen. In some
ways it looks similar to the absolute fiasco storm of early December where it
had looked initially as if we would get pummeled with heavy snow, then it
looked like a combination of very heavy precipitation, then we got just some
freezing rain but the main part of the storm missed us out to sea at the last
minute. This one has the potential to have
some surprises associated with it as well.
I see three possibilities with this storm on Sunday. One is that the storm could nearly completely
miss us out to sea, bringing us just a bit of rain on Sunday but no big
deal. The second possibility is that the
storm could come closer to the New Jersey Coast and bring us heavy rain on
Sunday, possibly changing to a bit of snow on Sunday night and snow showers on
Monday. The third possibility is that
the storm could come close to the New Jersey Coast and intensify rapidly,
pulling cold air down from the north and changing us over rapidly to snow on
Sunday afternoon and potentially bringing heavy snow on Sunday night into
Monday morning. The most likely scenario
is the second one, where we would get some rain on Sunday, possibly mixing with
or changing to a bit of snow on Sunday night and snow showers on Monday but we shall
see. The highs on Sunday should be in
the low 40’s.
Monday we should have snow showers as the storm pulls away
with highs in the low to mid 30’s.
Tuesday should be nice with highs in the upper 20’s.
Wednesday we will have a chance of light snow or some snow
showers as a weak storm system approaches from the west. The highs on Wednesday should be in the low
30’s.
Next Thursday should be nice with a high in the low 30’s.
Next Friday a storm system may form along the Gulf Coast and
combine forces with a low pressure area dropping down from Canada. This would cause the storm to move northward
up the East Coast and threaten us with rain or snow next Friday depending on
the track that the storm takes. The
highs next Friday should be in the mid 30’s.
Next Saturday and Sunday should be nice with highs in the
upper 20’s.
Next Monday we will have a chance for snow as a storm approaches
us from the west. The highs next Monday should
be in the mid to upper 20’s.
Next Tuesday and Wednesday should be mostly sunny with highs
in the mid to upper 20’s.
