An intense Nor’easter will likely be off the New Jersey
Coast on Saturday afternoon and evening.
The exact track that this storm takes will determine who gets how much
snow. Then another snowstorm is possible
Monday into Tuesday morning, then it gets COLD, then another snowstorm is
possible the following Monday...
An Alberta Clipper will pass just to our south tonight,
keeping the heaviest of the snow across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and
Southern New Jersey where a couple of inches of snow will fall. Here we will be on the northern fringe of the
storm, so we will likely get around a half an inch of total accumulation. The snow should start between around 3 pm and
5 pm and end between around 6 am and 8 am tomorrow morning.
Friday should then be the calm before the storm…
On Friday one storm will be moving along the Gulf Coast at
the same time that another storm is moving through Southern Canada. The storm in Southern Canada will start to
transfer its energy to the storm moving northeastward along the East
Coast. This will cause the coastal storm
to intensify rapidly, becoming a powerful Nor’easter on Saturday.
Now, as for the potential effects here in Northern New
Jersey…
The exact track that this storm takes will make the
difference between some areas only getting some flurries or light snow and other
areas getting a very substantial snowfall with high winds. If the storm were to come close enough to the
coast it could even cause the snow to mix with or change to sleet, freezing
rain or even rain. There also remains the
possibility that the storm could veer out to sea at the last moment and keep us
dry. We will just have to wait and see.
So, what will it be?
Anything remains possible. As
this year has shown, you can’t be certain of anything until after the storm is over. The only thing I can do is lay out the
possibilities for you, as I have done, to the best of my ability. Somehow these storms this winter have either
turned into rain events or missed us completely, so we will just have to wait
and see what this storm decides to do.
Be sure to check back for updates later today.
After this storm passes Sunday should be the calm before the
next Nor’easter potential on Monday into Tuesday morning. There is the potential for this storm to be
significant as well. Stay tuned…
After the storm passes on Tuesday morning it will get COLD
with lows dropping to the single digits and highs only in the 20’s.
Then we have a chance of another significant snowstorm the
following Monday…
Here we go…
Be sure to check back for updates later today…
Yeah, I also won’t believe it till I see it. This year has proven that Mother Nature will
do what she wants, when she wants. We
shall see. Join me later today for the
latest in this saga…
