The cold is simply amazing with a low this morning of -4 at my weather station in Allamuchy Township, Warren County, and it really does look like
Alaska around here…
Once again, if you did not view the article that the New
Jersey Herald did on this blog on Wednesday, you can click here to view it. It was an amazing article and I want to thank
all of YOU who made this possible…
Moving forward, it will be very cold again today with a high
only in the low to mid teens.
Tomorrow a storm system will approach from the southwest and
it now looks as if much of the moisture with this storm will occur prior to any
changeover with rain. This will leave us with snow developing between about 12
pm and 3 pm tomorrow from west to east across our area. The snow should then
start to mix with and change to rain after midnight, but by then the majority
of the precipitation should have already fallen with total snowfall
accumulations of 3-6 inches in
Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, and Southeastern NY, 2-4 inches in
Northeastern NJ, and 1-3 inches in Central NJ, New York City, and on Long
Island. It will warm up after the storm passes on Sunday with highs in the
upper 30’s to low 40’s.
Monday should then be
mostly sunny but cold with highs only in the mid teens.
Tuesday we will have increasing cloudiness as two storms
approach, one an Alberta Clipper (see key terms to the left on the page), and
another a developing coastal low along the Southeast Coast. These two storms
will eventually merge and likely bring a significant snowstorm to New England
and possibly Eastern Long Island but we will likely end up sandwiched between
both of these storms. This will leave us with a chance of some snow on Tuesday
night into Wednesday morning but it is difficult to say at the moment whether
we will be dealing with just some snow showers or something much more
significant. We will need to keep a close eye on this situation to see how
these two storms come together. Any faster merger of these two storms and this
could go from a chance of a little snow to the chance of a lot of snow very
quickly.
We will then have a chance of a snow shower on Thursday,
followed by a mostly sunny day next Friday.
Next Saturday another coastal storm will develop and
threaten us with snow developing in the afternoon or evening and continuing
into Sunday.
Next Monday should then be nice and then a storm will
approach from the southwest next Tuesday bringing us a chance of snow next
Tuesday and Wednesday.
Next Thursday should then be variably cloudy with a chance
of snow showers.
Yes, there is actually still no end in sight to this cold
with chances for snow…
Please join me throughout the day for potential quick
updates on the impending storms and tonight for my detailed weather discussion.
Have a wonderful day!.
