Friday, February 27, 2015 - Evening Weather Discussion

We will have three distinct storm threats next week, all of which have the potential to bring us some significant snow or ice...

The first storm threat will approach on Sunday night into Monday morning. The snow will start between 1 pm and 3 pm on Sunday, ending between about 7 and 9 am on Monday morning. Total accumulations should be 2-5 inches. Click here, or on the map below, to view the latest short-range American model snowfall output map.

The next storm will approach on Tuesday, with snow developing around 4 pm, then changing to sleet and freezing rain in the evening, with freezing rain continuing until around 4 am on Wednesday before changing to rain. It looks as if the snow will accumulate 1-3 inches before the changeover to freezing rain, with up to a quarter inch of ice possible before the changeover to rain on Wednesday morning.

Temperatures will then warm to the upper 40's on Wednesday before the cold front then comes through on Wednesday evening and temperatures plummet just as another storm approaches. This will likely cause rain to change to snow on Wednesday night and there could be another 1-3 inches of accumulation with this storm. This one is a tough call and there is a potential that the snow will not materialize or that there will be much more than just 1-3 inches. We will just have to wait and see. This storm would likely go into Thursday morning if there is one.

It should then be nice on Friday with a chance of snow showers next Saturday night, and then the next chance of snow would be next Monday and Tuesday and again next Thursday and Friday.

Luckily, just beyond this two week period, I think I see Spring!!!!!!!!!!!
