Another snowstorm on the way…
Today’s storm did not work out exactly as expected once
again, with the heavier snow expected across Northeastern NJ ending up down in
Central and Southern New Jersey where up to 7 inches fell, leaving Northeastern NJ with some rather light
accumulations. Northwestern NJ was sandwiched between and ended up with about
as much as was expected. Luckily the extremely high winds did not materialize,
as is often the case, but it is better to be safe than sorry. Let’s
just be happy that the 50+ mph winds didn't happen. The highest gust I recorded
here was 30 mph.

It will be VERY COLD today and tomorrow with the highs only
in the upper single digits to low teens today, dropping to ten below zero to
zero tomorrow morning with some temperatures of up to 15 to 20 below zero in
the coldest valley locations tomorrow morning.
The pieces for the mid-week storm will remain separate which
will prevent a major storm from occurring. We will likely still get a light to
moderate snowstorm which will be Tuesday during the day, rather than Tuesday
night into Wednesday as the storm over the Southeastern United States will race
ahead of the Alberta Clipper. This will cause snow to develop around 1 am on
Tuesday morning, ending around 5 pm on Tuesday evening. Accumulations should be
2-4 inches for Northeastern PA, Southeastern NY, Northern NJ, and New York
City, 3-6 inches for Central NJ and Long Island, and 5-8 inches for Southern
NJ.
We will however need to keep a close eye on this storm in
case it decides to change track slightly. Any track further to the south would
shift this entire area further south and reduce totals and any track further to
the north would shift everything north, increasing snowfall totals in our area.
Please be sure to check back for
updates.
After this storm passes it will once again get extremely
cold for the end of next week with lows dropping below zero on
Friday and Saturday mornings and highs only in the teens on Thursday and
Friday.
The next storm will likely approach next Sunday, bringing a
chance of snow Sunday into next Monday morning.
We will then have a chance of snow showers next Wednesday
before the next storm brings us a chance of snow next Friday and Saturday.
Please be sure to check back for updates on the Tuesday
storm as any small change in track will cause snowfall totals to either
decrease or increase.
I will likely post an update by early afternoon…
