Tomorrow will be MUCH colder with lows reaching around zero and highs only in the mid teens.
Saturday an Alberta Clipper (see key terms to the left of the page) AND the Polar Vortex will approach our area, causing snow to develop around mid day. The extreme cold of the Polar Vortex meeting the warmth of the Gulf Stream water off shore of New Jersey will cause explosive development of this system as it reaches the New Jersey Coast on Saturday night. This could cause some borderline significant snows Saturday afternoon into early Sunday morning, probably in the 1-3 inch range, although I am leaning more toward the upper end of that at this point due to the explosive potential with this system and the fact that the very cold temperatures could lead to higher snowfall ratios. We will see what tomorrow brings though. The snow should end early on Sunday but then Sunday the high will only reach around 10.
Monday should then be nice but VERY COLD with lows dropping below zero in most places and very possibly to 10 to 15 below zero in the coldest locations, with highs only in the mid teens.
Tuesday we will have increasing cloudiness with highs in the mid to upper 20's.
Tuesday evening snow will likely develop as a storm system approaches our area from the Southeastern United States. This storm may very well combine with a an Alberta Clipper dropping down from Canada. If these two storms merge we may have a significant snowstorm here Tuesday night into Wednesday with highs in the mid to upper 20's. We will just have to see how this works out, but at the moment this does look more likely to be snow than the previous storms that turned into freezing rain and sleet.
Next Thursday through Saturday should then be mostly sunny with highs in the upper teens on Thursday, the mid 20's on Friday, and the low 30's next Saturday.
Next Sunday a storm system will approach from the Southeastern United States, bringing with it a chance for snow developing and continuing into next Monday with highs in the upper 20's to low 30's.
Next Tuesday through Thursday should then be nice with highs in the upper 20's to low 30's.
