Lots of VERY COLD air and chances for winter-type weather on
the way…
Today a weak low pressure will approach our area from
Canada, bringing with it a chance of a snow shower. There could be a dusting of
accumulation in some places. The high will be in the low 30’s.
Tomorrow will be MUCH colder with lows around zero and highs
only in the mid teens.
Saturday another storm system will drop down from Canada,
this time with the Polar Vortex. The high on Saturday will be around 30. The
storm system will pass over our area and will then re-develop well off the New
Jersey Coast before heading toward the Gulf of Maine. As this storm passes by
it will cause snow to develop on Saturday between about 11 am and 2 pm and
ending on Sunday morning. There should be 1-3 inches of accumulation. It will
also get VERY WINDY late on Saturday night as the storm intensifies rapidly off
the coast. Wind gusts may reach 40-50 mph late on Saturday night into Sunday
morning.
As for Eastern New England, yeah it will probably end up
being another blizzard for them with 1-2 feet of snow, but what else is new? Central and Eastern Long Island could also
get 6 inches or more of snow.
It will then clear our later on Sunday but it will be VERY
COLD with highs only around 10.
Monday will then be mostly sunny but VERY COLD with lows in
the low to mid single digits BELOW ZERO and the highs only in the mid to upper
teens.
Tuesday a storm system will approach from the southwest,
bringing with it a chance of snow developing in the evening with a high in the mid
to upper 20’s. The snow could change to
freezing rain and sleet at night.
Wednesday there will be a chance of snow, sleet, or freezing
rain and a high around 30.
Next Thursday the storm may finally come to an end early in the
morning, with clearing later in the day and a high around 20.
Next Friday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow
shower and a high in the mid to upper 20’s.
Next Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high in the mid to
upper 20’s.
Next Sunday there will be increasing cloudiness with a
chance of snow developing late in the day and a high in the low 30’s.
Next Monday and Tuesday there will be a chance of snow/sleet/freezing rain with
highs around 30.
Next Wednesday should be mostly sunny with highs in the
upper 20’s.
