Thursday, February 5, 2015 - Evening Weather Discussion

A piece of energy responsible for producing the storm for Saturday and Sunday has come on shore today in British Columbia Canada and apparently this is responsible for changing the data quite a bit...

First though, tomorrow will be quite cold with lows around zero tomorrow morning and highs in the low to mid 20's.

Saturday there will be a chance of a period of light snow from the late morning till the early evening with a dusting of accumulation possible.

Sunday there was supposed to be snow all day. Now, the front that was supposed to have set up to our south has shifted hundreds of miles to the north. If the models are now correct, this would shift the heavy snow well to our north, leaving us with just a chance of a bit of light snow on Sunday that could accumulate to a dusting to an inch or so.

The main part of the storm would now start on Sunday night. This storm is really starting to look more and more like the storm from last Sunday night and Monday.

The heavier snow would move in on Sunday night and into Monday morning when it may mix with or change to sleet and freezing rain, continuing into Monday night before changing back to some light snow and flurries early on Tuesday morning, then ending.

With this rather drastic change in the data that occurred this afternoon, I will now wait until the morning before I take another guess at any snowfall accumulations, as I want to see if there are any other significant changes first.

After this storm passes, it should clear out on Tuesday, followed by a nice but cold Wednesday.

Next Thursday will be a chance of a snow shower, followed by nice days Friday through Sunday.

The next chance of snow would be next Monday and Tuesday.
