Tuesday, February 17, 2015 - Evening Weather Discussion

We may dodge another bullet tomorrow night...

While it looks more like Alaska outside lately and it was actually colder yesterday here than it was in Alaska, we really have gotten off easy as far as the snow goes when compared with what Boston has seen this winter.

We may get lucky again tomorrow night as another storm is likely to miss us with the worst of what it has to offer. While we may get a bit of snow tomorrow night, likely a dusting to an inch or possibly two in some locations, the worst of this storm will go to our north.

It will then get terribly cold behind this storm again for Thursday and Friday as highs drop to the teens and lows in the single digits to possibly even below zero on Friday morning.

Then this weekend a frontal system will stall out nearby and low pressure areas will ride along it. The precipitation will start as snow on Saturday afternoon or night, likely changing to freezing rain and possibly even rain on Sunday before possibly changing back to a touch of snow on Sunday night into Monday morning.

Then it looks like we may dodge another bullet for the middle of next week as a coastal storm that will form will likely stay out to sea.

Then a weak storm system will approach with a chance of snow showers next Thursday.

The next storm to be concerned about will then be next Sunday night into Monday.

Below are some photos of Mystic Seaport in Connecticut, courtesy of Elizabeth Legon. Elizabeth was actually on her way to Cape Cod when Mother Nature decided to get in the way with the blizzard there this past weekend. Thanks Elizabeth for these wonderful photos of Mystic Seaport and the Mayflower in the blizzard!
