As this interesting storm ends, another is on the way…
This storm turned out to be quite interesting with an
incredibly high “fluff” factor to the snow. What I mean by that is that the
ratio of water to snow was very high, as is the case when temperatures are this
cold at cloud and ground level. The same will hold true with the next incoming
storm for tomorrow night. The highs today and tomorrow will be in the mid 20’s.
What would have been only a dusting to an inch turned out to
be 2-3 inches in many locations as the snow ratio was very high with this
storm. We will have the same situation tomorrow evening as TWO Alberta clippers,
one slightly north of the other at this point, will actually merge and bring us
more snow tomorrow night. This is a very unusual situation and I can see the
potential for this storm to surprise once again as far as snowfall totals, as
after the two Clippers merge they will turn into a bit of a Nor’easter as they
approach the coast. If these two storms merge early enough there is the
potential for 1-3 inches or more of snow, although I will stick with 1-3 inches
for now and we will just have to wait and see how things work out. The snow
will start tomorrow evening between 7 pm and 10 pm and will end around mid day
on Thursday. The high on Thursday will only be in the mid teens.
Friday will be mostly sunny but very cold with lows around
zero and highs in the low to mid teens.
Saturday we will have increasing cloudiness with lows around
zero and highs in the mid to upper 20’s.
Saturday night snow will develop and it could mix with or
change to sleet, freezing rain, or rain on Sunday, ending late in the day. The
high on Sunday should be in the mid to upper 30’s.
Monday will be mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 20’s.
Next Tuesday and Wednesday a coastal storm is likely to
develop. This storm will threaten us with snow depending on how close it comes
to our area. Highs will be in the mid 20’s.
Next Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny with highs in
the mid to upper 20’s.
Next Saturday we will have increasing cloudiness with a
chance of snow developing at night with highs in the low 30’s.
Next Sunday we will have a chance of snow with highs in the mid
30’s.
Next Monday should be mostly sunny with highs in the upper
30’s.
