Monday, March 16, 2015 - Morning Weather Discussion

Well, it might snow on Friday, maybe…

First though, we will have mostly sunny skies today and highs in the upper 40’s.

Tomorrow a strong cold front will approach, bringing a chance of rain showers that might change to snow showers in the late afternoon or evening. The high tomorrow should be in the upper 40’s.

Wednesday the Polar Vortex will be parked in Southeastern Canada, bringing us a chilly day with lows around 20 and highs only in the low 30’s.

Thursday will be another cold day with lows in the mid to upper teens in the morning and highs in the upper 30’s.

Thursday night clouds will increase as a storm system approaches from the southwest. This storm may bring Southwestern Virginia 4-8 inches of snow on Thursday night as it moves eastward through the Southeastern United States.

The storm will continue moving eastward, reaching coastal North Carolina on Friday morning. This will allow snow to expand eastward, giving most of Virginia 1-4 inches of snow on Thursday night and Friday morning. The storm will then turn northward up the coast, bringing 1-3 inches of snow to Maryland, Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Southeastern New England on Friday.

We will need to keep a close eye on the track of this storm as any track further to the south and east will reduce or eliminate the chance for snow in our area and any track further north and west would increase the snowfall amounts.

After this storm passes on Friday night, a cold front will approach on Saturday night, bringing a chance for rain showers, changing to snow showers with a dusting of accumulation possible.

Sunday through next Tuesday should then be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower each day and highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s.

Next Wednesday and Thursday should be mostly sunny and warmer with highs around 50.

Next Friday and Saturday there will then be a chance of rain or snow as a storm system approaches from the west.
