Tuesday, August 23, 2016 - Evening Weather Discussion

Nice but then possibly a hurricane to watch...

It will be generally nice through Sunday with just a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm Friday.  Highs will generally range from the mid 80's to the low 90's.

However, there will likely be a hurricane developing near the Bahamas that should make landfall near Miami Sunday morning, then it should head westward across Southern Florida, possibly becoming a major hurricane after it reaches the Northeastern Gulf of Mexico. This storm should then make landfall somewhere along the Northeastern Gulf Coast between about New Orleans and the Florida Panhandle Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, possibly at major hurricane strength, which would bring catastrophic damage to the area where it makes landfall.

The remnants of this hurricane would then track northeastward along the spine of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, heading towards the Allentown and New York City Metropolitan areas, bringing very heavy, flooding rains to these areas Wednesday into Thursday (mainly Thursday in the Allentown and New York City areas). Highs should generally be in the 80's Monday and next Tuesday, dropping to the 70's next Wednesday and Thursday.

Next Friday through Sunday then look nice behind the storm with highs in the 70's.

Next Monday looks nice with highs rising to around 80.

Have a wonderful evening and let's keep a close eye on the potential for a developing Hurricane off the coast of Florida...
