Monday, September 5, 2016 - Morning Weather Discussion

Hermine is still nearby and then a heat wave…

Hermine is refusing to leave easily and will stick around off shore for a few more days. Hermine has maximum sustained winds of 70 mph but should remain just far enough off shore to keep most of us safe, except for right along the coast where there could be a bit of coastal flooding. Otherwise Hermine will gradually weaken as it sits and spins just off shore. Hermine might come just close enough to the coast tomorrow to bring us a chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon or evening and the chance of some heavy showers and thunderstorms on Long Island. We shall see. Highs will be in the 80’s in most inland locations today and tomorrow. It will also be breezy with winds possibly gusting as high as about 40 mph at times inland, and up to 50 mph along the NJ Coast and on Long Island.

Wednesday there will still be a chance of a shower or thunderstorm on Long Island but the rest of us should have a nice day with highs in the 80’s to low 90’s inland.

Thursday through Saturday we will then have a heat wave in many inland locations as highs reach the low to mid 90’s and possibly even a few upper 90’s by Saturday. There will be a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm each day.

Sunday through next Tuesday will then be mostly sunny with highs around 80 to the low to mid 80’s in most places Sunday and Monday, rising to the mid to upper 80’s in many places next Tuesday.

Next Wednesday we will have increasing cloudiness with a chance of showers and thunderstorms developing as a cold front approaches. Highs will be mainly in the 80’s.

Next Thursday we will have a chance of shower and thunderstorms as a cold front passes through our area. Highs will range from the upper 70’s to the mid 80’s.

Next Friday through Sunday then look nice with highs in the low to mid 70’s.

Have a fantastic day!
