Warm, rain, then cold, but what about a White Christmas?
Well, after looking at the latest snowfall totals, it certainly appears that my forecast for snowfall amounts was good from about Sussex County, through Northeastern NJ, from Mercer and Middlesex Counties southward, in Southeastern NY State, NYC, and on Long Island, but I was a bit too low in parts of Fairfield County, CT, and a bit too high in East Central and Northeastern PA, and parts of Western NJ. Well, it wasn’t perfect by any sense, but I will take it. These storms with changeovers are extremely difficult to forecast.

Moving forward, It will warm up tonight into tomorrow morning with temperatures reaching the 50’s in most locations by morning, then cooling back down in the afternoon to the 30’s in most places as a strong cold front moves through.
Monday through Wednesday will then be nice, but colder, with high temperatures only in the 20’s Monday, from the mid to upper 20’s in Northeastern PA to the upper 30’s in Central NJ and along the coast Tuesday, and from the mid to upper 30’s in Northeastern PA to the low to mid 40’s in Central and Northeastern NJ, NYC, and on Long Island Wednesday.
Thursday, we will have a chance of rain, snow, sleet, or freezing rain in the morning (especially in Northeastern PA) and rain in the afternoon, as a disturbance and cold front approach from the west. Highs will range from the mid 30’s in Northeastern PA to the upper 40’s along the coast and on Long island.
Friday then looks nice with highs from the mid 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 40’s along the coast.
Christmas Eve, we will have increasing cloudiness with a chance of rain or snow developing at night as a storm system and slow-moving cold front approach from the west. Highs will be in the 40’s.
Christmas Day, we will have a chance of rain or snow as the slow-moving cold front continues to approach our area, with highs in the 40’s.
Next Monday, we will have a chance of rain or snow as a storm could form along the Middle Atlantic Coast as the front and associated area of low pressure reach the coast. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.
Next Tuesday, we will have a chance of rain or snow ending in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the 30’s.
Next Wednesday and Thursday then look nice with highs in the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Wednesday and the 40’s next Thursday.
Next Friday, we will have increasing cloudiness with a chance of rain or snow developing at night as a disturbance and cold front approach our area. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.
