Tuesday, August 22, 2017 - Morning Weather Discussion

Probably the last day in the 90’s this summer…

Look at this incredible photo of the solar eclipse taken by Joe Altieri from the Astronomy section of the Rochester Academy of Science, taken at Corbin Creek Greenhouse right outside of Springfield, TN, courtesy of David Conca.

Today will likely be the last day that parts of our area hit 90 degrees this summer….

Today will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm and it will be hot with highs in the mid 80’s to low 90’s.

Tomorrow there will be a chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the morning as a cold front passes through our area, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s.

Thursday will then be nice with highs in the 70’s to low 80’s.

Friday is looking variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the morning as a weak disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the upper 60’s to low 70’s in Northeastern PA and the 70’s elsewhere.

A hurricane may form in the Western Gulf of Mexico Thursday, threatening to make landfall between Brownsville and Corpus Christi Texas Friday morning. This may play a role in our weather towards the middle of next week.

A Tropical Storm may also form off the coast of the Carolinas over the weekend. This storm will likely head out to sea, but could bring some highs surf to the beaches this weekend and into early next week.

Saturday through next Wednesday then look nice, as long as the Tropical Storm off the Carolina Coast remains out to sea. Highs will be in the 70’s, but with some low 80’s possible Sunday.

Next Thursday through Saturday then look variably cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms as the remnants of the hurricane that is likely to make landfall in Texas may pass through our area. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to low 80’s.

Next Sunday and Monday then look nice with highs in the mid 70’s to low 80’s.

Have a fantastic day!
