Extremely Dangerous Irma headed towards Florida…

Extremely dangerous category 5 Irma (would be a category 6 if the scale went that high), is headed towards Florida. Irma could make landfall just about anywhere on Florida. My best guess is that the center of Irma will make landfall near Marco Island or Naples on the Southwest Coast of Florida, then go just east of Fort Myers and through Orlando, then up to near Jacksonville. However, landfall near Miami is about equally possible. So, I feel at this point that anyone in Southern Florida should evacuate. There is too much uncertainty as to the exact place of landfall to risk your life. Just leave! Also, if Irma does hit near Miami or pass just off shore of Miami, she would then make landfall further north in Georgia or the Carolinas. So, people as far north as North Carolina should be keeping an eye on this as well.

Now, back in our area, it will be variably cloudy today and tomorrow with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm today and a slight chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm tomorrow. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to low 70’s today and the mid 60’s to mid 70’s tomorrow.

Saturday through Monday then look nice with highs in the 60’s to low 70’s Saturday, the mid 60’s to low 70’s Sunday, and the 70’s Monday.

Tuesday, we will then have increasing cloudiness as the remnants of Irma approach our area. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s.

Wednesday will be cloudy with a chance of showers or thunderstorms as the remnants of Irma pass through our area. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s.

Next Thursday through Saturday are then looking variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm each day. Highs will be in the 70’s to low 80’s.

Next weekend Jose may then be approaching Florida, possibly as another major hurricane.
