Thursday, December 7, 2017 - Evening Weather Discussion

Snow likely Saturday and Tuesday…

Tomorrow clouds will increase with highs in the 30’s.

Saturday one disturbance will drop down from Canada through the Great Lakes at the same time that another disturbance moves northeastward from the Gulf of Mexico and up the East Coast. The disturbance dropping down through the Great Lakes is now coming in a bit stronger in the latest data, and if correct, this would help pull the low moving up the East Coast further west as the two merge off the Middle Atlantic Coast. This will bring snow to our area Saturday, with the heaviest snow likely in Central NJ, Western Long Island, and in Southern Fairfield County, CT, and the lowest amounts likely in East Central and Northeastern PA. Right now, the best guess would be 2-5 inches throughout most of our area, with the possibility of more, as the short-range American model currently shows 3-10 inches, which is a possibility. It all depends on how strong the disturbance is that passes through the Great Lakes. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Sunday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the 30’s.

Monday is then looking variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower in the afternoon or evening as a disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30’s.

Tuesday there will be a chance of snow as a Nor’easter may develop off the NJ Coast. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s.

Wednesday there will be a chance of snow ending in the morning, followed by clearing. It will be very cold, with highs in the mid teens to mid 20’s.

Next Thursday then looks nice, but cold, with lows Thursday morning possibly dropping as low as the mid single digits and highs in the 20’s.

Next Friday looks variably cloudy with a chance of snow showers, as a disturbance passes through our area.  Lows Friday morning will drop as low as the mid single digits with highs in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s.

Next Saturday through Monday then look nice with highs in the 30’s next Saturday, and the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Sunday and Monday.

Next Tuesday into Wednesday morning we will then have a chance of rain or snow as a disturbance passes through our area, possibly turning into a Nor’easter. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.
