Monday, March 19, 2018 - Morning Weather Discussion

Heavy snow and strong winds possible Wednesday, and more possible Saturday night into Sunday…

Today will be nice with highs ranging from the mid 30’s to low 40’s in Northeastern PA to the mid to upper 40’s in West Central NJ.

Tomorrow clouds will increase with a chance of light snow developing in the afternoon or at night as two disturbances approach our area from the west. The snow could begin as rain along the coast and on Long Island. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

The way it looks right now, Wednesday morning the two disturbances will phase just east of the Delmarva Peninsula, strengthening rapidly and becoming a Nor’easter. The storm will then move northeastward and out to sea. If the current data is correct, the snow could become heavy at times Wednesday afternoon, ending at night. It may also become windy, with blizzard, or near-blizzard conditions possible along the coast, in NYC, on Long Island, and in Southern Fairfield County, CT. Highs will be in the low to mid 30’s.

This storm could significantly impact our entire area of East Central and Northeastern PA, Central and Northern NJ, NYC, Southeastern NY State, Long Island, and in Fairfield County, CT.

As is often the case with Nor’easters in our area, how exactly this storm develops and the exact track that it takes will determine the actual effects in our area. There is still a chance that this storm could develop further off the coast, lessening the effects in our area, so be sure to check back for updates.

Thursday and Friday will then be nice with highs in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s Thursday and the upper 30’s to mid 40’s Friday.

Saturday clouds will increase as a storm system approaches from the west. Highs will be in the low to mid 40’s.

Saturday night into Sunday morning there will be a chance for snow as a disturbance passes through our area. Things will then clear out Sunday afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the low to mid 40’s Saturday and the mid 30’s to mid 40’s Sunday.

Next Monday through Friday then look nice with highs in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s next Monday and Tuesday, the mid 40’s to low 50’s next Wednesday, and the upper 40’s to mid 50’s next Thursday and Friday.

Next Saturday there will be a chance of rain or snow developing at night and continuing into next Sunday morning as a disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s next Saturday and the mid 40’s to low 50’s next Sunday.
