Sunday, December 30, 2018 - Morning Weather Discussion

Rain, rain, and more rain…

It really is amazing how every one of these storms for the past month have looked as if they would have the potential to be snow, and then turn to rain as the storms came closer. This will hold true through at least next week as the storm for Thursday would have been snow had it reached our area Wednesday night into Thursday, but will instead arrive Thursday night into Friday, and by then the pattern will support rain. In fact, we have had so much rain this year that 2018 is currently the 5th rainiest year on record in New York City, and may reach 4th place after tomorrow, maybe.

Today will be variably cloudy with some snow showers and flurries this morning as a weak disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

New Year’s Eve clouds will increase in the morning, with rain developing in the afternoon and continuing through the night as a storm system passes through our area. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.

New Year’s Day will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a sprinkle in the morning. Highs will be in the morning and will range from the low to mid 50’s in Northeastern PA to the low to mid 60’s in Central NJ, then dropping in the afternoon.

Wednesday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s to low 40’s.

Thursday clouds will increase, with rain developing at night, as a storm system approaches from the Southeastern United States. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Friday, there will be rain during the day, with some clearing likely at night, as a storm system passes through our area. Highs will be in the 40’s to low 50’s.

Saturday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.

Next Sunday through Tuesday will then be nice with highs in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s next Sunday and Monday and the 30’s to low 40’s next Tuesday.

Next Wednesday there will be a chance of rain or snow as a storm system passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Next Thursday there will be a chance of rain or snow ending in the morning, followed by clearing, as the storm system departs our area. Highs will be in the 30’s.

Next Friday there will be a chance of rain or snow showers in the morning. Highs will be in the 30’s.

Next Saturday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s.

Have a fantastic day!
