Tuesday, December 18, 2018 - Evening Weather Discussion

Heavy flooding rain and strong wind Friday and then things could get interesting just in time…

Tomorrow will be nice with highs in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.

Thursday, clouds will increase in the morning, with rain developing in the afternoon and evening as a strong storm system approaches from the Southeastern United States. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40’s.

Friday there will be rain, heavy at times in the morning, followed by a chance of a shower in the afternoon and at night as the strong storm system passes through our area. There will likely be widespread flooding throughout our area with total rainfall amounts of 1-4 inches likely. It will also be very windy, with gusts of 40-60 mph possible. With the storm heading to our west, there will be southerly wind flow, allowing temperatures to rise to the mid 50’s to mid 60’s.

Saturday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a rain or snow shower in the morning. Highs will range from the low to mid 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 40’s in Central NJ and on Long Island.

Sunday clouds will increase with a chance of light snow or snow showers developing at night as a weak disturbance approaches from the west. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

Christmas Eve there will be a chance of light snow or snow showers early in the morning, followed by clearing. Some light snowfall accumulation is possible. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

Christmas Day through next Thursday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s Christmas Day, the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Wednesday, and the upper 30’s to mid 40’s next Thursday.

Next Friday there will be a chance of showers as a disturbance approaches from the west and then passes through our area. Highs will be in the 40’s.

Next Saturday and Sunday then look nice with highs in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s next Saturday and the 30’s next Sunday.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day there will be a chance of snow as a Nor’easter may form near the Delmarva or NJ Coast. Highs will be in the low to mid 30’s New Year’s Eve and the 30’s New Year’s Day.
