Friday, January 25, 2019 - Morning Weather Discussion

Watching Tuesday and then the cold returns…

It will be nice through Monday, with just a chance of a snow shower in Northeastern PA Sunday. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s today, the low to mid 20’s in Northeastern PA and the upper 20’s to mid 30’s elsewhere Saturday, the mid to upper 30’s in Northeastern PA and the 40’s elsewhere Sunday, and the upper teens to low 20’s in Northeastern PA and the mid 20’s to mid 30’s elsewhere Monday.

Tuesday, a disturbance will reach the Great Lakes, with a cold front trailing from the disturbance into the Southeastern United States. A disturbance will then develop along the front in the Southeastern United States Tuesday morning. This disturbance will start to intensify as it moves northeastward, reaching the NJ Coast Tuesday night. The disturbance over the Great Lakes will then phase with the disturbance along the NJ Coast, turning into a Nor’easter that will then move northward through New England.

If the storm on Tuesday develops as outlined above it will mean that snow would develop Tuesday afternoon in Northeastern PA and rain or snow, or a mixture of rain and snow throughout the rest of our area. The precipitation would then end Wednesday morning as the storm pulls away from our area. Highs will be at night from the upper 20’s to low 30’s in Northeastern PA and Orange County, NY, to the low to mid 40’s in Central NJ and on Eastern Long Island Tuesday, and in the morning from the low 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 40’s on Eastern Long Island, then dropping.

It will then get very cold again behind the cold front Thursday through next Sunday, with lows dropping as low as the low to mid single digits below zero in Northeastern PA Thursday and next Saturday, and highs ranging from the upper single digits to low teens in Northeastern PA to the mid 20’s in Central NJ Thursday, to the low to mid teens in Northeastern PA to the mid 20’s in Central NJ next Friday, the mid teens in Northeastern PA to the mid 20’s in Central NJ and on Long Island next Saturday, and the low to mid 20’s in Northeastern PA to the low 30’s in Central NJ and on Long Island next Sunday.

Next Monday is then looking nice and a bit warmer, with highs from the upper 20’s in Northeastern PA to the upper 30’s in Central NJ.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower. Highs will range from the upper 20’s to low 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid to upper 30’s in Central NJ next Tuesday, and from the upper 20’s to low 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid to upper 30’s in Central NJ next Wednesday.

Next Thursday is then looking nice with highs from the mid to upper 20’s in Northeastern PA to the mid to upper 30’s in Central NJ.

Have a fantastic day!
