Sunday, January 6, 2019 - Morning Weather Discussion

Some mixed precipitation in parts of our area Monday night/early Tuesday and then a discussion about the possibilities next Sunday…

It will be variably cloudy with a chance of a sprinkle or flurry this morning. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Tomorrow clouds will increase with a chance of light snow developing in East Central and Northeastern PA at night as a warm front approaches our area. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Tuesday there will be a chance of rain in the morning, except snow changing to rain early in the morning in Northeastern PA, Orange and Putnam Counties in NY, and in Northern Fairfield County, CT, with a trace to a coating of accumulation possible in those places, and a light accumulation of ice is also possible in Northeastern PA. It will then be variably cloudy with a chance of showers at night and snow showers possible in Northeastern PA with a coating to an inch of accumulation possible there. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

Wednesday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a flurry. Highs will range from the low to mid 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 40’s near the NJ Coast.

Thursday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower or flurry, especially in the morning. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s.

Friday will then be nice with highs in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s.

Next weekend things are likely to get interesting along the East Coast of the United States as a piece of the Polar Vortex will drop into Southeastern Canada, a weak disturbance will be dropping down from Canada through the Great Lakes area, and a stronger disturbance will be moving eastward through the Gulf of Mexico, or along the Gulf Coast. The piece of the Polar Vortex sitting in Southeastern Canada will supply cold air to the East Coast. The two approaching disturbances may merge near the Middle Atlantic Coast Sunday, maybe. If they do merge there would be chance of a snowstorm in the Middle Atlantic area of the United States next Sunday. If they fail to merge, the stronger disturbance in the Southeastern United States would move harmlessly out to sea, leaving us with only a chance of a snow shower or flurry, or nothing at all. We will just have to wait and see how this works out.

Saturday clouds will increase late in the day. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Next Sunday there will be a chance of snow. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to low 30’s.

Next Monday there will be a chance of snow ending in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Next Tuesday will then be nice with highs in the mid to upper 30’s.

Next Wednesday and Thursday will be variably cloudy with a chance of rain or snow showers as a disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

Next Friday is then looking nice with highs in the 30’s.

Next Saturday there will be a chance of snow as a Nor’easter may form near the Middle Atlantic Coast. Highs will be in the 30’s.

Have a fantastic day!
