Thursday, January 24, 2019 - Morning Weather Discussion

Heavy rain and strong wind today, rain and snow likely Tuesday, and then VERY cold once again…

There will be heavy rain and strong wind today as a cold front and strong disturbance pass through our area. It will also be quite warm this morning as warm air surges northward into our area ahead of the cold front.  Highs will reach the 50’s in many places this morning and then drop in the afternoon. Total rainfall amounts will be 1-2 inches throughout our area which is likely to cause some flooding, especially when combined with snow-melt in some places.

Tomorrow and Saturday will then be nice, but colder, with highs from the 20’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 30’s in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island tomorrow and the low to mid 20’s in Northeastern PA to the low 30’s in East Central PA and Central NJ Saturday.

Sunday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower at night, and snow showers will be likely in Northeastern PA, as a disturbance approaches from the west. Highs will range from the mid to upper 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid to upper 40’s in Central NJ.

Monday will be variably cloudy with highs ranging from the teens in Northeastern PA to the low 30’s in Central NJ and on Eastern Long Island.

Tuesday there will be a chance of snow in Northeastern PA, snow changing to rain in East Central PA, Northern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and Fairfield County, CT, and rain in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island, as a disturbance passes through our area. Lows will range from the mid to upper single digits in Northeastern PA to the upper teens to low 20’s in Central NJ, with highs from the low 30’s in Northeastern PA, Southeastern NY Sate, and Fairfield County, CT, to the low to mid 40’s in Central NJ.

Wednesday through next Tuesday then look nice, but very cold, with lows dropping as low as the low to mid single digits below zero in Northeastern PA next Thursday through Saturday mornings, and highs in the mid teens to mid 20’s Wednesday, the mid single digits to mid teens next Thursday, the teens to low 20’s next Friday, the mid teens to mid 20’s next Saturday, the 20’s next Sunday, the mid 20’s to mid 30’s next Monday, and the upper 20’s to mid 30’s next Tuesday.

Next Wednesday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a rain or snow shower as a disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the 30’s.
