Monday, March 4, 2019 - Evening Weather Discussion

EXTREMELY COLD tomorrow morning through Friday morning…

Well, those higher snowfall amounts did happen after all, just a bit further northeast with an 11-inch reading in Westchester County in Southeastern NY State, and a couple of readings of almost 14 inches in Western Connecticut. It is always difficult to get those isolated amounts located, but they did occur within the band I indicated.  I did say they would be isolated, so there you go.  There was even one reading approaching 10 inches in Lehigh County in East Central PA.  Other than that, I think I did a pretty good job of placing the bands, with widely varying amounts from basically 2-6 inches in the NYC area and in Central NJ.

Moving forward, the next story will be the extreme cold, with temperatures dropping below zero in many inland locations tomorrow morning and again Thursday and Friday mornings.

Tomorrow through Friday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower or flurry each day. Lows will range from the mid single below digits below zero inland to the mid teens near the coast tomorrow, the single digits to mid teens inland Wednesday, from the single digits below zero in many inland locations to the low teens above zero near the coast Thursday, and ranging from the low single digits below zero to the low teens above zero near the coast Friday. Highs will be in the 20’s to low 30’s tomorrow, the upper teens to mid 20’s Wednesday, the 20’s to low 30’s Thursday, and the 30’s Friday.

Saturday is then looking nice with highs in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.

Sunday there will be a chance of rain, possibly starting as some freezing rain in parts of our area. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

Next Monday, March 11th, through next Wednesday, March 13th, will then be nice with highs in the mid 40’s to low 50’s next Monday, the upper 30’s to mid 40’s next Tuesday, and the mid 40’s to low 50’s next Wednesday.

Next Thursday, March 14th through next Sunday, March 17th are then looking unsettled with a chance of rain each day, as a couple of disturbances pass through our area. Highs will be in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s next Thursday, the mid 40’s to mid 50’s next Friday, the 40’s next Saturday, and the upper 30’s to mid 40’s next Sunday.

Have a wonderful evening!
