This afternoon and evening a strong disturbance and then cold front will pass through our area, causing showers and thunderstorms to develop. Some of the thunderstorms could be severe again today, with very heavy rainfall possible in some locations. There will likely be a very narrow band of very heavy rain somewhere in our area from east to west, with rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches possible in this band. This would lead to a flash flooding situation wherever this band sets up. In this regard flash flood watches have been issued for the Northern three quarters of NJ and most of Eastern PA, excluding only the furthest northern counties. I do however believe that this heavy rain band will extend eastward through parts of NYC, Southeastern NY State, Long Island, and Fairfield County, CT. Again, this will be a very narrow band of very heavy rainfall that will set up somewhere in our area this afternoon and evening. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 60’s on Eastern Long Island, the upper 60’s to low 70’s in Northeastern PA and on Western Long Island, the mid 60’s to low 70’s in Fairfield County, CT, the upper 60’s to low 70’s in NYC, the upper 60’s to mid 70’s in East Central NJ, the low to mid 70’s in Northern NJ, the mid 70’s in East Central PA, and the upper 70’s to low 80’s in West Central NJ.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Storm Prediction Center, has placed our area in a marginal to slight risk for convective activity today, so we will have to watch for the possibility of more severe thunderstorms. Click here to view the map and read the convective outlook.
Tomorrow will be much nicer, with variably cloudy skies and only a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be mainly in the 70’s, but there could be some low 80’s in inland East Central NJ.
Saturday will be variably cloudy with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm as a disturbance and cold front slowly approach from the west. Highs will be in the low 70’s along the coast and in the mid 70’s to low 80’s inland.
Sunday will be variably cloudy with showers likely, and possibly a thunderstorm, as a disturbance and then cold front pass through our area. Highs will be in the upper 60’s and 70’s.
Monday through Wednesday are then looking nice with highs in the upper 50’s and 60’s Monday and Tuesday, and the upper 60’s and 70’s Wednesday.
Next Thursday, June 6th, is then looking variably cloudy with a chance of showers or thunderstorms as a cold front and disturbance pass through our area. Highs will be in the upper 60’s and 70’s.
Next Friday, June 7th and next Saturday, June 8th, are then looking nice with highs in the upper 60’s and 70’s next Friday and the upper 60’s to mid 70’s next Saturday.
Next Sunday, June 9th, through next Tuesday, June 11th, a couple of more disturbances may pass through our area, bringing a chance for showers or thunderstorms. Highs will be in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s.
Next Wednesday, June 12th, is then looking nice with highs in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s.
Have a fantastic day and keep an eye to the sky!
