Thursday, June 20, 2019 - Evening Weather Discussion

Chances for showers or thunderstorms tonight into tomorrow morning and then windy, but nice…

Check out this amazing photo taken by Suzanne Sarner when she was on her way home from work this evening in Newton, Sussex County, NJ.  Truly an incredible photo!  Thanks for sharing Suzanne!

So, we have had a stationary front plaguing our area all spring, but what is a stationary front?  A stationary front is a front that doesn't move and it is caused by two competing air masses. In our case, the cold air pushing down from Canada meeting the warm air pushing up from the Southeastern United States. These two air masses have been meeting right over us all spring. Any disturbance moving eastward is then pushed between these two competing air masses along the stationary front, and through our area. Hence the rainy spring we have experienced.

There will be some showers or thunderstorms in our area through tomorrow morning and then things will clear out. Highs will be in the upper 60’s and 70’s.

Saturday and Sunday will then be nice with highs in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s Saturday and the 70’s to low 80’s Sunday.

Monday will then be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s.

Tuesday there will be a chance of showers or thunderstorms as another disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the 70’s to low 80’s.

Wednesday and next Thursday, June 27th, will then be variably cloudy with just a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to low 80’s Wednesday and the mid 70’s to mid 80’s next Thursday.

Next Friday, June 28th  and next Saturday, June 29th, are then looking nice with highs in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s.

Next Sunday, June 30th, there will be a chance of a shower or thunderstorm with highs in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s.

Next Monday, July 1st, and next Tuesday, July 2nd, are then looking nice with highs in the mid 70’s to low 80’s.

Next Wednesday, July 3rd, is then looking variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s.

Have a wonderful evening!
